This is the common question that arises from all AdSense account managers. For example, google suspends the AdSense account whenever 10 or 20 people continuously click the ads on one website. If that is true, any group of people can do this activity on any website to intentionally suspend their Adsense account.

Many bloggers said that the chance of getting a suspended Adsense account is very low. So, protecting your website from Invalid Clicks and Invalid Activity is the only solution to avoid Adsense suspension.   

How do we do that?

A variety of actions are considered as Invalid Activity by Google Adsense. Mostly, Invalid Activity is associated with Invalid Clicks. 

Own Clicks: Google easily detects whenever you click your own ads. So, all the clicks done by you all categorized as Invalid Clicks. 

Buy Traffic: Many people use some illegal methods to make money from Adsense. One such method is Buying Traffic and Clicks from third-party sources. In starting you can make some money from Adsense but you can not do it for many months. Google easily detects the pattern and suspends your account. 

Encourage Clicks: Small website owners encourage their family members to click ads on their website. If you did it more times then it could be detectable. 

Click Bots: Some people are using bots or software to generate clicks. These activities are considered a violation of Adsense policies. 

Google handles billions of data daily. So, it can easily find out any pattern that violates their policies.

How can you stop invalid clicks from your Adsense account? 

Google itself has a powerful automated system to find and filter out invalid clicks. When you check out your earnings you can see some deductions like Invalid Traffic – Adsense for content. Those amounts are generated from invalid traffic so only google deducted this amount. 

If your account continuously receives amounts from invalid traffic, your account will get a chance for suspension. So, please be careful when your earnings are deducted by invalid traffic.

Google has an inbuilt click filtering tool that automatically deducts any invalid traffic. This is considered as the first level of protection. 

Adsense Reporting 

You can run a very detailed report on Google Adsense to identify any suspicious activity that might affect your account. If you see any spike on your click records, you can easily detect the suspicious activity. 

If you receive unexpected clicks from certain placements, check where you place those placements. Sometimes, you get accidental clicks from certain placements. If so, remove those placements. 

Third Party Tools 

Multiple third party plugins or tools are available to avoid invalid clicks on Adsense. You buy and use those tools. Example : AdSense Invalid Click Protector (AICP) Plugin

Mainly your Adsense account is suspended due to three common reasons,

7. Set the Visitor Ban Duration (default: 7 days) : Usually, it is available in 7 days. Just update it to 4 or 5 days.
8. Do you want to use the IP-API Pro key : Just leave as it is.
9. Provide your IP-API Pro key : Leave this field blank.
10. Do you want to block showing ads for some specific countries? If you want to block any countries block them as like this example: CN, PW, PL, PS

That’s all, your plugin is ready to protect your Adsense account from Invalid Clicks.

Conclusion

Protecting our Adsense account from invalid activity is very important to avoid suspension. As I mentioned above, Google has a very good invalid activity tracking system to detect invalid clicks and traffic. So, do not click your own ads, do not ask your friends to click your ads, and do not buy VPN or third-party services to buy clicks and traffic.

Do not ask your family members or friends to click ads on your website.

Do not place your ads with higher click intent.

Conclusion

Google continuously monitors each website’s performance and suspends AdSense accounts if it detects anything suspicious. But, sometimes your account gets suspended without doing any unlawful activities. In that situation, you can submit an Invalid Activity Appeal Form to appeal the suspension. If your appeal is valid, google removes the suspension. Otherwise, you will be suspended permanently.

Google Adsense Current Earning Model: PPC

Google Adsense follows the Pay-per-click earning model from the start. For example, the Adsense partnered publishers only get paid based on the clicks that occurred on their website and not by the delivered impressions. For example, you served 1000 impressions on your website and no one clicked those ads. In that situation, you will not get any revenue from the AdSense. This is how Adsense currently working.

WHY Google AdSense to Move to Pay-Per-Impression Model in 2024?

As per the recent announcement, Google is going to make two following changes in 2024.

1. Updating Adsense Revenue Structure
2. Moving to Pay-Per-Impression model

Currently, various options are available to the publishers to sell their ad space. They are partnered with various ad networks and SSPs to sell their inventories. Mostly, other ad networks and SSPs are using the Pay Per Impression model to pay their publishers. In that situation, the publishers can’t compare the effectiveness of the ad networks by comparing the revenue from the two different pay model ad networks. 

To improve the transparency in the ad buying process, google now decided to adopt the Pay Per Impression Model. So, the publishers can easily compare the AdSense performance and fees with other ad networks.

What Publishers Can Expect From These Changes?

Once Google Adsense adopts the Pay Per Impression earning model, the associated publishers will get paid by the impressions, not by the clicks. Per the current Adsense Fee structure, the revenue share between the publisher and Adsense is 68%/32%. For example, if the advertiser pays 1 dollar for 1 click. In that situation, the publisher will get 68 cents and Adsense get 32 cents. 

Updating Adsense Revenue Structure : 

As per the announcement, the Google Adsense revenue structure will be updated. In the new fee structure, Adsense splits the fee into multiple parts. For example, the Fee for AdSense, Fee for the buy side, Fee for the sell side. 

When websites show ads from Google Ads, the fees will be divided as below. 

Fee for Google Ads – 15%

Fee for Google Ads – 17%

Publisher Revenue – 68%

That means, the Adsense partnered publishers still get 68% of ad revenue share in the new pricing model. If the publisher displays an ad from third party ad networks, then Google Adsense will not take the fee. In that situation, the publishers get more revenue share. 

Moving to Pay-Per-Impression model :

Industry-wide, most platforms adopted for pay per impression model. Because most advertisers run their ad campaigns to increase awareness. Otherside, most ad networks also pay their publishers based on impressions. By adopting the pay per impression model, the publishers can compare Adsense revenue and fees with other ad networks.

Will the publishers take any action from their end?

No, the publishers are not advised to take any action for these changes. But, as a blogger and digital marketing analyst, I have a few suggestions for publishers to increase their ad revenue. 

1. In the pay per impression model, the viewability going to play a crucial role in ad revenue. So, I advise publishers to place more ad codes on places that are mostly viewable to visitors. 
2. Google Adsense strictly mentioned that the publishers won’t do any ad fraud activity to make more money. Such as popup ads, auto-refreshing ads, multiple ad codes on a single placement, etc. 
3. If you are using multiple ad networks to serve the ads, compare the revenue from other ad networks and focus on delivering more ads from higher revenue-generating ad networks.

Conclusion

Finally, Google Adsense going to adopt pay per impression model. After this change, the publishers will get paid by impressions. So, publishers can compare the Adsense revenue with other ad networks and optimize towards making more money.

Content Quality: Google Adsense gives first priority to “Content Quality”. The website should have good quality content, images, and videos. So, when you build your website please focus on content quality and also use good quality images and videos. 

Minimum Required Traffic: Google doesn’t set any minimum traffic range for getting AdSense approval. Based on your traffic range, you can earn money from the Adsense program.
